Here in Switzerland, plastics recycling is maybe a few steps ahead of other countries: there are big blue PET recycling bins all over the place, so you can return your empty Sprite or Rivella bottle, and HD-PE can also be disposed of in a friendly manner. Supermarkets charge you for shopping bags - and they are made out of paper. However, this isn't the case in a lot of places.
